Miss Katherine Buvenia Burnham, 93 born January 28th, 1925 of Sargent, Georgia, died 2-16-18.
Miss Burnham was the daughter of Mr. David Nelson Burnham, Sr. and Maggie Davidson Burnham. She was preceded in death by sisters Earline Jackson of Gastonia, North Carolina, Clara Bowie, Myrtle Vickery, Bertha Beam, brothers Dorsey Burnham, David Burnham, Jr. and Autry Burnham all of Newnan.
She worked at the William L. Bonnell Company and retired taking care of her mother and other family members. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. Katherine was born with a unique gift of music and played the organ and piano as well as singing. She kept her beautiful voice well up until her golden years and shared this gift with her family often. She wrote poetry and recited it often. She dearly loved her entire family, but especially her Lord Jesus and from memory, frequently spoke of scriptures in the Bible. Right up until her death she was a keen thinker, full of energy and always cracking jokes to keep her family members laughing, especially during sad times. She will be missed dearly by her close family members.
Survivors included are all her great nieces and nephews. Mr. Ricky Lambert (Debbie) from Hixson, Tennessee, Ms. Judy Whitley from Macon, Ms. Paula Wells and David Peak of Newnan, Mrs. Bootsie Wyatt (Leon), Mrs. Robin Rhyme (Gary), Mrs. Jill Francis from Gastonia, North Carolina and Mrs. Ki Thomas (David) from Clover, South Carolina and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. and will be held at Sargent Cemetery. Flowers are welcome because she always believed in sending them to others.
