Joseph Darrell Stephens III, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. He was born in Newnan on July 5, 1960 to the late Joe D. Stephens Jr. and Evelyn Turner. He was very skilled at his craft. He had a reputation as being a expert mechanic and wrecker operation. He was a very generous and helping man; through the years taking in dozens of struggling homeless people and giving them a safe place to call home free of charge.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stephens in preceded in death by his half brother, Rick Harbin and his sister, Lynn S. McCullough (Keith McCullough); as well as his beloved pet yorkie, Gizmo.
Mr. Joseph Darrell Stephens III is survived by his sons, Joseph Darrell Stephens IV and Jeremy Daniel Stephens; his daughter, Jessica Nicole Stephens; sister, Angie Stephens McCullough (Ronnie McCullough); half sisters, Ashley Brown and Gail Tyus; grandchildren, Tyler Stephens, Haylee Stephens, Elijah Stephens, his special great niece, Becca McCullough, and a number of other nieces and nephews; along with a host of other children he was a father figure to. He also had a special place in his life for his pet yorkies.
The family will receive friends at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and a memorial service will be held the following day, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund for Mr. Stephen's grandchildren and asks that any contributions be given to the funeral home.
