James Arch "Jim" Kight Sr., 83, of Luthersville died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough.
He was born April 6, 1934 in Heard County, the son of Joseph Henry and Duma Livada Nutt Kight. He grew up in Heard County and graduated from Centralhatchee High School.
He worked at Newnan Hospital in the lab and at one time ran the Yellow Boy restaurant in Newnan and the store at Powers' Crossroads. For many years, he worked with Southern Bell. After retirement, he opened his own business, Kight Communications, in Newnan, providing telephone services to many local businesses and agencies.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Alvaton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, January 27, at 3 p.m. at Luthersville Cemetery.

Survivors include Clair Grantham Kight of Luthersville; sons, Jim and Sallie Kight of Newnan and Jay and Nique Kight of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Clair Lynn and Quinn Kight of Newnan and Austin Moore, Alexis Moore and Jacie Kight of Sharpsburg; sister, Jackie Williams of Watkinsville; niece, Stacy and Chuck Reece of Clarkston; and nephew, Joe and Kerri Williams of Watkinsville.
